Is my dog a candidate?
Most healthy dogs are. If your pet has light-to-moderate tartar and generally healthy gums — which is most dogs — they're an ideal candidate, and regular cleanings keep it that way.
Some pets aren't a fit for an awake cleaning — advanced periodontal disease, loose or infected teeth, or significant pain that needs full veterinary treatment. That's exactly what the exam catches. If your dog isn't a candidate, you pay only the $29 exam — never the full $295 — and you'll get an honest recommendation from the vet and Lindsey on the best next step. No upsell, no pressure.
A note on our standard. Some anesthesia-free practitioners will clean what's accessible even when a pet has infection or advanced disease present. The pet goes home with shinier front teeth and an untreated problem that's still getting worse — and the owner ends up paying twice: once for the partial cleaning, again for the anesthesia, X-rays, and extractions a few months later. Lindsey won't do that. If she finds something that needs a vet's attention, she stops, charges only the $29 exam, and sends you out with a clear recommendation. One thing worth saying plainly: the risk of a single supervised anesthetic procedure, when it's truly needed, is far lower than leaving active infection and periodontal disease untreated.

We're firm on this for one reason — after 20+ years, Lindsey won't put a pet through a deep cleaning while it's stressed.
